The Housing Assistance Corporation has been awarded $50,000 by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency under the 2016 cycle of the Urgent Repair Program (URP16).

Urgent Repair Funds are used to address housing conditions which pose imminent threats to life and/or safety or to provide accessibility modifications and other repairs necessary to prevent displacement of very-low and low-income homeowners with special needs.  Special needs include: elderly over 62 years old, handicapped or disabled, a single parent with a dependent living at home, a large family with 5 or more household members, a household with a child below age 6 with an elevated blood level, or a military veteran (must supply DD214).

Assistance is made to homeowners in the form of a loan which is unsecured, deferred, and interest free.  The maximum loan amount is $8000.00 and loans are forgiven at a rate of $1000.00 per year.

Homeowners who wish to apply for assistance must do so between August 15 and September 30, 2016.  Apply by contacting the Home Repair Coordinator at (828) 692-4744 x 103 or complete an application at the Housing Assistance Corporation office located at 602 Kanuga Road, Hendersonville.

This program was sponsored by Housing Assistance Corporation, with funds provided by the NC Housing Trust Fund.
