Henderson County AFFORDABLE HOUSING PUBLIC FORUM set for January 27

Hendersonville – The Community Development staff of the City of Asheville will hold an open forum about housing issues in Henderson County to present information from the soon to be released Housing Market Study by Bowen National Research.  Residents of the County will also have an opportunity to express their concerns about housing issues, needs and priorities.  We want to hear your experiences, your ideas and thoughts about housing in Henderson County, so please stop by and bring your family, friends and co workers.  All are invited to attend this drop in event between 6 PM and 7:30 PM on Tuesday evening.  The event will take place at the Henderson County Planning Board Room,

The Consortium, through the City of Asheville Community and Economic Development Department, was formed to distribute federal HOME Investment Partnership Act funds. These HOME funds are available to non-profit agencies and housing developers whether for profit or not.  The projects that receive funding are coordinated by non profits and for profit organizations that attempt to help solve the most pressing housing needs as determined through analysis, focus meetings and public forums for the upcoming 5-year period. Applications for this year’s funds are due on Friday, February 6 at noon.

Uses of these funds include:  the development of new rental or for-sale housing, rehabilitation of existing housing, down payment assistance for first time home buyers and rental assistance payments.
